The logo for Seattle Children's Hospital works well for representing this particular hospital. The logo clearly states what Seattle Children's is. It is a hospital, but from the logo we can also see that there is research conducted there and there is some sort of foundation that the hospital operates. The logo is clear, easy to read, and gives the viewer a good idea of what exactly Seattle Children's is about. Another reason that this logo works well is because of the graphic. The whales represent a mother and a child, which speaks to the kinds of people who would use this hospital. The whale is also representative of Seattle itself. Whale watching is something that is a tourist attraction in Seattle, so the whales help to easily relate this logo back to the city of Seattle without reading the words.
The Kids in the Sun Pediatric Practice logo does not work as well as the Seattle children's logo. The type used in the logo is very plain and unappealing, even though it is easily read and understood. The graphic in this logo doesn't connect read as kids in the sun. The idea of people in the sun is pretty easily understood, but the idea doesn't relate back to pediatrics. The Seattle children's logo is warm and inviting and also comforting. This is because of the organic lines in the graphic and the color palette used. The Kids in the Sun logo is not successful in either of those instances.
